After learning the basics of fire science, types of extinguishers, and home fire safety in the classroom, we will go out to the fire training grounds and practice on a real fire! This is a hands-on class to experiment with different types and sizes of fire extinguishers. You will leave the class with the knowledge you need to take action if you encounter a fire. We can't stop them but we can get prepared. Learn about earth- quake risk in the PNW, how earthquakes have shaped our landscape and culture, and what we can do to get ready in the future. College, C111 FREE Classes: 1 Feb 28 Th 6:00–7:30pm 189 REPA is a partnership between the City of Renton and Renton Technical College providing courses to help people prepare for emergencies. Group presentations upon request, 15 person minimum. Visit rentonwa.gov/repa. Renton Emergency Preparedness Academy Surviving Mass Violence Age 16 yrs and up, minors must be accompanied by an adult. An expert from the Renton Police Department will answer questions about surviving shootings and other violence, and give tips on what you can do if you find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time. This workshop will provide you with a basic working knowl- edge of how to brine ferment vegetables. Kefir fermentation of dairy products will also be demonstrated.
