VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS & OPPORTUNITIES 26 | For more information call 425-430-6600 or visit Rentonwa.gov National Day of Service Saturday, September 9 In observance of the National Day of Service and Remembrance, the City of Renton has partnered with local agencies to provide service opportunities in the Renton area in which our community can participate. If you would like to be a volunteer on Saturday, September 9 from 9:00am to 12:00pm then we will find a project for you! Contact Teresa Nishi at 425-430-6694 / tnishi@rentonwa.gov for a list of projects. All volunteers are invited to participate in a celebration picnic following completion of the projects. If your organization or agency needs volunteers for work projects such as cleaning, organizing, painting, or weeding, etc. in Renton contact Teresa Nishi at 425-430-6694 / tnishi@rentonwa.gov by June 15. Renton Farmers Market If you are passionate about fresh food, local agriculture, or just want to get involved with your community, then join us every Tuesday from June through September at the Piazza Park. Opportunities are available on market days to work at the information booth, Kids Patch, assist with set-up and/or break-down of the market and help the vendors load and unload items. Information: Carrie Olson at 425-430-7214 / clolson@rentonwa.gov Adopt a Park Program The City provides the tools and assigns an experienced Parks staff to find the right park for your group to get involved, give back, enjoy the outdoors, and see the fruits of your labor. Summer Lunch Recreation Program Do you have free time this summer and want to have fun providing recreation activities to chil- dren who attend the Summer Lunch Program? Then volunteer at a lunch site that serves a meal to anyone under the age of 18. Shifts are from 11am to 1pm, at least once a week for 8 weeks starting June 26. Children under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Children 14 to 17 who are not accompanied must have a waiver filled out by an adult.
